Joint Lecture Serieson Interdiscipilinary African Studies

| This interdisciplinary lecture course on African studies serves as an introduction to the MA in African Studies. Representatives from the core MA disciplines will provide students with a specialised overview of their field of research. This will include both methodological approaches and current debates. The following disciplines are included: history, social anthropology, religious studies, literature, linguistics, environmental sciences and epidemiology.
The reading of at least one text for each lecture is a basic requirement of the course. The main arguments addressed in the lectures and in the articles will be discussed and further developed in general discussions, particular emphasis will be put on the relationship between the various disciplines. |

As this course will be credited with 2 CP (for two hours per week) students will be required to do some extensive reading. They will also be expected to attend other presentations organised by the CASB. Students must have finished their “Grundstudium” to enrol in this course. Students with a special interest can also just visit single sessions. The language of tuition will mainly be English. |
